Ashura | God’s gifts in a quote by Imam Hussain

Imam Hussain was the prophet Muhammad’s grandson and the third Shia Imam who was martyred on the day of Ashura at Karbala. He had only a few men along with the women and children when he was surrounded by the Yazid’s army of 30,000 people but he still refused to pay allegiance to Yazid…

Why didn’t Imam Hussain save his life by paying allegiance?

How was the life in Imam Hussain’s view?

When is Ashura 2016?

Ashura 2016 is on Wednesday, the 12th of October.

The day of Ashura (/ʌʃuːrʌ /) is the 10th day of Muharram(/Mohærræm/) which is the first month in the Islamic calendar. As the Islamic calendar is a lunar calendar and the Georgian calendar is a solar one, therefore each year, the day of Ashura falls in a different day in the Georgian calendar.

There is no day like Ashura. Day of Ashura marks the day in which thirty thousand people who consider themselves as the followers of the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and who call themselves Muslims, gathered around the prophet’s grandson, Imam Husayn, shed his blood and all 72 of his companions and captured their women and children in more than 14 centuries ago in a land called Karbala.

What is Ashura?

Islam was on the verge of disappearing within the throat of the tyrants and justice being crushed under the stampede of evildoers. The cruel rule of Yazid and his men was about to cross the shining face of Islam away by a red line and the agonies and troubles suffered by the great Prophet of Islam (s) and the early-day Muslims as well as the blood of the self-sacrificing martyrs, were about to be forgotten and gone to the winds.

It was at this point that Imam Husayn (PBUH) set out on the great Ashura uprising. The Master of Martyrs rose to strengthen Islam, to oppose cruelty, and to stand up against the empire of those days that were beyond the scope of modern day empires.

When is Ashura 2014?

Ashura in year 2014 is on Tuesday, the 4th of November.

The 10th of Muharram is called Ashura and Muharram is the first month of Islamic calender.

Ashura is always on the same day in the Islamic calendar but it is not in the Georgian calender because of the difference between these two calenders.

Ashura marks the day when Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad, along with 72 of his companions was martyred more than 14 centuries ago thus every year on the day of Ashura, millions of mourners commemorate their martyrdom anniversary.
