God loves who loves Hussain | A Quote by Prophet Muhammad

There is a quote by the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) about Imam Hussain (PBUH) that I have made it before as an image with a black background but now I made it again with a lovely background suitable for the birth anniversary of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and other occasions of happiness, showing our love toward Imam Hussain, the prophet Muhammad’s grandson.

Quote by prophet Muhammad about Imam Hussain

Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain , God loves who loves Hussain

The holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Sunan at-Termidhi. v.6, no.3775

This quote is very famous in Islam among both Shia and Sunni books.

Seeking liberty and justice like Imam Hussain

These days, Iranian people are celebrating the 42th anniversary of the victory of Islamic revolution of Iran. They rose up against cruelty and injustice for at least 15 years with the God’s helps and through the leadership of a supreme leader, Imam Khomeini, the man who said this famous quote: “Imam Hussain (PBUH) taught us all how to stand up cruelty and the government of tyranny. “

Now Iranian people are still fighting against the arrogant powers who try to recolonize Iran and remake it a dependent country with no powers and of course with the right of capitulation for themselves like before the revolution!!! But these people still have the God’s helps and the leadership of Ayatullah Khamenei . Some other countries are also awakening seeking justice even the people of US. May God helps our brothers and sisters in everywhere.

It’s interesting that Imam Hussain (PBUH) is also a role model for seeking liberty and justice in Imam Khamenei’s view :

I made this image from a Imam khamenei’s speech which you can read it completely at here

“Today, Imam Hussain (a.s.) is known to the world more than he was 5 centuries, 10 centuries ago. Today the situation is as such that when impartial intellectuals learn about the history of Islam, and the story of Imam Hussain (a.s.), they feel humble. Even for those who do not know anything about Islam, yet they recognize the notions of freedom, justice, dignity, elevation, and lofty human values, Imam Hussain (PBUH) is an invaluable role model in seeking liberty and justice, in rising up against vices and evils as well as in fighting ignorance and humiliation of mankind.

– Imam Khamenei (Speech in April 14, 2000)

Muharram , The Month of Imam Hussain

“The month of Muharram is  the month of Imam Hussain,…The month of attendance to the preservation of the religion, God’s religion, and resistance against those powers which confront the religion…”

Today is the first day of Muharram in the year 2019 and I’m writing this post from the holy city of Mashhad, from a place near to Imam Reza’s holy shrine; So Let’s offer our deepest condolence to Imam Reza (PBUH) and to Imam of our time for the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (PBUH), the prophet Muhammad’s grandson.

Muharram 2019 at the holy shrine of Imam Reza

Holy shrine of Imam Reza in Muharram 2019. I took this photo tonight, on the 1st of Sep 2019.

It is my first trip to Mashhad in Muharram. The holy shrine is covered in black and the people are also dressed in black for the mortyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (PBUH).There are also some traditional camps held in the streets by people who love Imam Hussain to offer free tea, drink or food to the mourners and other people in the streets.

Yesterday I found that Imam Khamenei, the grand leader, also travelled to Mashhad to clean the holy grave of Imam Reza (PBUH) to prepare it for the beginig of Muharram.

The following statment is one of the grand leader’s speech about Muharram given in about two years ago :

“The month of Muharram is the month of Imam Hussain; It is the month of Hussaini, The month of all values embodied inside the Master of Martyrs (PBUH); the month of Martyrdom , the month of Jihad, the month of sincerity, the month of loyalty and the month of forgiveness; the month of attendance to the preservation of the religion, God’s religion, and resistance against those powers which confront the religion. The auspicious existence of the Master of Martyrs and the events of Ashura, Muharram and other such events are the embodiment of these values.

The belief that the uprising of the Master of Martyrs has been preserved Islam is really a correct belief as this event has been become livelier, day by day, in the course of time and after many centuries.

Today, this ceremony is being held in a warmer and more enthusiastic and comprehensive manner than a hundred years ago when there were no appearant opponents for the religious believes of people like today’s opponents. All these matters has a meaning. All these matters reveal certain truths and a movement which is moving forward in the world with the leadership of Hussain ibn Ali (PBUH). In-Sha-Allah this movement will go forward and will resolve the problems of nations.”

Ashura | Who is Hussain?

Our deepest condolence to the man left from the descendant of Imam Hussain, to Imam of our time, Imam Mahdi (May Allah Hasten his reappearance).
I prepared the following image by a quote from Imam Hussain, the prophet Muhammad’s grandson who said it on the way toward Karbala.

The references for this quote are from Shia and Sunni collections of traditions respectively.

There is no doubt that the greatest and the most painful massacre in history was the martyrdom of Hussain (PBUH) and his 72 companions on the day of Ashura.

Imam Hussain (PBUH) was the prophet Muhammad’s grandson who was surrounded by an army of 30,000 people in Karbala, with no water for three days! They fought deliberately in the battlefield but they were all killed and beheaded one by one in front of their families on one day which is called Ashura.

Following the martyrdom of Hussain (PBUH) and his companions, their bodies were trampled by the hoofs of the horses, their tents were burnt in fire and their women and children including Lady Zeinab (PBUH), the prophet Muhammad’s granddaughter, were all captured and moved along with their heads toward the Levant.

Day of Ashura was a day Imam Hassan Al-Mujtaba (PBUH) said about it to Imam Hussain (PBUH) before his martyrdom:

Ashura | Quote about Imam Hussain by Prophet Muhammad (6)

Recently , I searched again for the quotes about Imam Hussain, the prophet Muhammad’s grandson, in Sunni collections of quotes and I found some other traditions about him by the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at here.

The following image is a quote I found it about the holy prophet Muhammad’s view toward those who fight with Imam Ali, Lady Fatima, Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain (PBUH).

I continued my search through the references mentioned below the quote for confirmation and I found it correct.

Peace be upon Imam Hussain, the inheritor of Jesus

Today is the first day of the holy month of Rajab, one of the third holy months in the Islamic calendar: Rajab, Sha’ban and Ramadan. Fasting and pilgrimage (Ziyarat) of Imam Hussain (PBUH) are recommended to do on this day and there is some praying (Duas) to be read at the time of the pilgrimage of Imam Hussain when you are at the holy shrine of Imam Hussain or far away from it. Ziyarat Warith (the inheritor) is one of these small praying which begins with the peaces upon the holy prophets:

Peace be upon you, O the inheritor of Adam, the one chosen by God,

Peace be upon you, O the inheritor of Noah, the Prophet of God,

Peace be upon you, O the inheritor of Abraham, the friend of God,

Peace be upon you, O the inheritor of Moses, the one who talked to God,

Show Your Love Toward Husayn on Arbaeen

When I was younger, I was seeing people in love with imam Husayn and I tried to understand this kind of Love but I couldn’t feel it. I could not understand the feeling of those people who want to go to Karbala as a pilgrim of Imam Husayn despite all troubles and dangers over there. Walking 80 Km to the holy shrine of Imam Husayn on the day of Arbaeen is a ridiculous way to choose despite all existing vehicle in theses days,  but definitely It is a way to show our love toward Husayn to the world and let all the people in the world know that there is a true love differed from the other loves tried to show by Hollywood movies.

Why did Ashura happen? The three causes of Imam Hussain revolution

In the previous post, I made an image about why Imam Hussain (PBUH) rose up as stated in his will, but that was not the only reason for Imam Hussain to revolt.

ashura-holy-shrine

The holy shrine of Imam Hussain (PBUH) in Karbala, Iraq. A photo taken in Muharram 2016

There are three main causes explained in Martyr Mortaza Motahhari’s book written according to the Islamic quotes for why Imam Hussain rose up against Yazid’s government and why Ashura happened.

1-Imam Hussain rejected to pledge allegiance to the immoral and non-Muslim man such as Yazid who wanted to be a ruler of Muslim community despite the threatens made by Yazid’s government because swearing allegiance to Yazid indicated not only accepting Yazid as a ruler but also accepting the wrong way of succession determination was being established for the first time by Yazid’s father in the Muslim community. The thing that was not permitted in Islam and both Shia and Sunni sects.

2-About 100,000 people of Kufa sent 18,000 letters to Imam Hussain and invited him to come to Iraq and re-establish an Islamic government, although they forgot their invitation and leave Imam Hussain to be alone against the 30,000 people of Yazid’s Army and even they helped the Army!  This invitation cause Imam to have no choice other than to accept their request

3- Reforming the Muslim community and promoting virtue and preventing vice was the third and the main reason for Ashura uprising. Imam Hussain had found about his cousin, Moslem (the son of Aghil), martyrdom on the way to Kufa, therefor Imam could have refused the invitation sent by the people of Kufa and come back to Mecca,  but he did not stop going to Kufa until Yazid’s Army stop him and his companions in a land called Karbala. Imam Hussain himslef stated this main reason openly in his will to his brother before traveling to Kufa. You can see a part of Imam Hussain will in the following image:

“I did not rise up for the cause of wickedness, amusement, corruption or oppression, but I rose up to reform the Muslim community of my grandfather [Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)]. I want to promote virtue and prevent vice.”

First night of Muharram 2016: A Quote about Muharram by Imam Reza

Tonight is the first night of Muharram in 2016.

Although Imam Hussain (PBUH) and his family and companions have not arrived yet to Karbala in such day but mourning ceremonies have got started at all over the cities in Iran as well as other countries by Shia Muslim people to follow Imam Reza’s mourning style for the martyrdom anniversary of the holy prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussain. Read more about Imam Reza’s style at here

Imam Reza, the 8th beloved Imam, said about his father, Imam Musa (Moses) Kazem (PBUH):

“No one could have seen my father’s smile when the month of Muharram came. Sadness was increasing in his face day by day till the tenth of Muharram [day of Ashura] and when the tenth day of Muharram would dawn, it would be a day of grief and weeping for him.”

Ashura-Where Is the Avenger?

The following images contains some verses of Nudba’ dua (prayer) which is recommended to read on Friday mornings and three other Eids. Nudba’ means to cry or wail and Dua means to call or to seek help. This dua, quoted from Imam Sadiq (PBUH), is for the Imam of the time, Imam #Mahdi.

The holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said about Imam Mahdi that he will rise at the time when people will be faced with severe conflict and the earth will be hit by a violent quake. He will fill the earth with justice and equity as it is filled with injustice and tyranny. He will fill the hearts of his followers with devotion and will spread justice everywhere.

The Ark of Salvation

Ashura-ark

There is a quote from Prophet Muhammad about Imam Hussain (PBUH):

 “اِنَّ الْحُسين مِصباحُ الْهُدي وَ سَفينَهُ الْنّجاه

Verily Hussain is the shining light of guidance and the ark of salvation .”

The lady who completed the epic of Ashura

There was a lady who saw how her sons and her brother and all of her family members were violently martyrd on Ashura.

Ashura-Zeinab

Ashura

She saw how Yazid’s army cut the heads of her family and put them on the arrows and how they ride on their bodies.

She was the only one who had to care of the women and children being held captive in Karbala and she was the one who had to continued the story of Karbala.

Ashura-Zeinab-2

Ashura

This great Lady was Zeinab who is the prophet Muhammad’s granddaughter and Imam hussain’s beloved sister.

Our supreme leader, Imam Khamenei, in one of his speeches in year 2013 said about this great Lady:

“The epic created by Zeinab al-Kubra (PBUH)[1] complements the epic of Ashura. The epic that Zeinab al-Kubra (s.a.) created revived and preserved the epic of Ashura. The greatness of what Zeinab al-Kubra (PBUH) did, cannot be compared to other great events in history. It should only be compared to the event of Ashura itself and truly, these two events complete one another.

Leader-Khamenei-Ashura

The Supreme Leader, Imam Khamenei

This great personality and this great lady of Islam and all of humanity managed to stand firm in the face of the great mountain of hardships and there was not even a tremble in her voice because of all these events. She stood firm like a glorious mountain peak both in the face of enemies and in the face of hardships and bitter events. She became a lesson, a role model, a leader and a pioneer.

Zeinab-Ashura-4

The Great Lady

At the market of Kufa [A city in Iraq], while she was held captive, she made this astonishing speech: “Oh people of Kufa, who are treacherous and disloyal, do you cry for us? May your tears not dry and may your moans not stop. You are like a woman who loosens her threads after she pulls them together” [al-Ihtijaj, Volume 2, page 303]. The words are as firm as steel and the meaning flows like a river and it influences hearts and souls. In such conditions, Zeinab al-Kubra delivered a speech, which was like the Commander of the Faithful (a.s.), and she shook hearts and souls and she shook history with these words. This speech became eternal in history. It was delivered in front of the people while she was held captive.

Ashura-Zeinab-3

Typography Labbayk Ya Zeinab

After that, she delivered a speech in front of Ibn Ziad [The ruler of Kufa] in Kufa and a few weeks later, she spoke in front of Yazid with such strength that it both humiliated the enemy and the hardships which the enemy had imposed. She said, “Do you foolishly think that you can defeat, suppress and humiliate the household of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) ?” “Honor belongs to Allah and His Messenger, and to the believers” [The Holy Quran, 63: 8]. Zeinab al-Kubra is the manifestation of dignity, as Hussain ibn Ali (PBUH) was the manifestation of dignity in Karbala on the day of Ashura.

The way she looks at events is different from the way other people look at those events. Despite all those hardships, when the enemy wants to taunt her, she says, “I did not see anything except for beauty” [Lohuf, page 160]. She said, “What I saw was beautiful. It was martyrdom. Although it was difficult, it was in the way of God and it was done for preserving Islam. It was the creation of an epic in history so that Islamic Ummah knows what it should do and how it should move forward and stand firm“. This is a great achievement made by the epic of Zeinab (PBUH). This is the dignity of God’s saint. Zeinab al-Kubra (PBUH) is one of God’s saints. Her dignity is the dignity of Islam and she made Islam and the Holy Quran valuable.

Of course, we are not as aspirational and determined as Zeinab al-Kubra (PBUH)  and therefore we cannot say that the behavior of this great lady is our model. We are too inferior to say such things, but anyway, our movement should be in line with the movement of Zeinab (PBUH). Our efforts should be focused on bringing dignity for Islam, the Islamic community and the entire humanity. This is the same responsibility that Allah the Exalted has entrusted to prophets through Islamic obligations and rules.

…one of the factors which brought about this spirit and this patience in Zeinab al-Kubra (PBUH)  and other divine saints – who moved forward with such spirit and patience – is sincerity and honesty. It is very important to honor our promises to Allah the Exalted and to devote our hearts to the path of God in a sincere way….” [2]
