Happy birthday of Imam Hussain to the Imam of our time, Imam Mahdi, and to all the believers.
In this post , I’d like to translate a part of an speech made by a great philosopher and scholar, Ayatullah Mohammad Taqi Mesbah Yazdi who is fortunately alive and lives in the city of Qom in Iran. I read the text of that speech in his official website in the recent days and I found it inspiring. It was about the first lesson from the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (PBUH) in some parts
The first lesson from the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (PBUH) is that we should not concern ourselves about the future consequences, if we work to the glory of God. The good results will be achieved surely even if the present results do not seem pleasant; it may be achieved in the future years and the society will be benefited from.
Ayatullah Mesbah Yazdi said that Imam Hussain was satisfied with what he did although he gave everything he had because he worked to the glory of God and provided the long-lasting conditions for the Islamic society to be reformed…
Our great condolence to Imam Mahdi (PBUH) for the martyrdom anniversary of lady Zainab, the prophet Muhammad’s grand daughter and the beloved Imam Hussain’s sister, the lady who watched how Yazid’s Army killed Imam Hussain and all of the men in her family one by one on one day, Ashura, in Karbala. She saw by herself how people who called themselves Muslim, cut the head of the prophet Muhammad’s grandson and his men in the same way the terrorist group of ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) murder innocent people in Syria nowadays. She observed how they moved the men’s heads in front of their women and children who were captured toward the land of “Sham” (or “Levant” in English). Sham is now called Syria where the holy shrine of lady Zainab (PBUH) is located.

Each year, the holy shrine of Imam Husayn in the city of Karbala receives an increasing number of pilgrims across all over the world. It was reported officially that on Arbaeen 2016, more than 20 millions pilgrims have gathered at Karbala. Despite the all modern technologies, millions of pilgrims prefer to walk 80 Km from Najaf to Karbala to show their love toward Imam Husayn and to his living son, the 12th Shia Imam (Imam Mahdi). In addition, It is quoted that the pilgrimage of Imam Husayn on Arbaeen is a sign of a believer and every single step toward the holy shrine of Imam Husayn, can wipe out one sin and have one reward.
Thanks God, this year I was among the millions of pilgrims who walk to Karbala. To be honest, the journey was not such easy but undauntedly, it was an excellent journey that one should experienced it by him/herself. A different life style in which only one backpack is enough to start the journey as everything is prepared for free by Shia muslim people on the way to Karbala.
Many thanks to Iraqi people who compete each others to be at our service for God’s sake and for the love of Imam Husayn. They offer everything they have to pilgrims as they wish to be like Imam Husayn who gave everything he had to revive Islam.
I do apologize at first that my photos can not show the all aspects of Arbaeen as I am not a photographer and I took photos with my mobile phone.

It is an amazing spiritual journey in which you do not have to concern about food, water or accommodations. Everything is prepared for the pilgrims of Imam Husayn by non-government Muslim people for free on the way to Karbala. You can experience a true love in the real life by all the Muslim people around you especially by the Iraqi Shia people. They do it as they are the followers of Imam Husayn who gave all he had for the God’s sake.
This year, I am going to walk from Najaf to Karbala by my whole family In-Sha-Allah and If God helped me I will publish some photos of this fantastic journey on my Instagram page: @husayn.ashura
When I was younger, I was seeing people in love with imam Husayn and I tried to understand this kind of Love but I couldn’t feel it. I could not understand the feeling of those people who want to go to Karbala as a pilgrim of Imam Husayn despite all troubles and dangers over there. Walking 80 Km to the holy shrine of Imam Husayn on the day of Arbaeen is a ridiculous way to choose despite all existing vehicle in theses days, but definitely It is a way to show our love toward Husayn to the world and let all the people in the world know that there is a true love differed from the other loves tried to show by Hollywood movies.
