A quote about Imam Hussain by Imam Khomeini (The founder of the Islamic republic of Iran)

Day of Ashura | A Lesson from Imam Hussain

Tomorrow is the day of Ashura in the year 2019.

Day of Ashura was a day Imam Hussain , the prophet Muhammad’s grandson, and his 72 companions were all killed by the tyrant of the time and their families were also captured on this day but their blood still revive Islam over many centuries. Imam Khomeini who was the founder of the Islamic republic of Iran also learned from Imam Hussain (PBUH) as he said:

Ashura

Ashura

“By this sacrifice, the Master of Martyrs defeated the antagonists and in a very short time people realized what a calamity and tragic event had taken place, so their awareness upset the rule of the Umayyad [the tyrant of the time]. In addition, Imam Hussain’s example taught us all that his is the true path in all history: Do not mind the inadequacy of numbers! It is the quality that counts not quantity. It is the quality of the jihad of numbers that triumphs. Let the great powers of the world and those who are either in the Eastern or in the Western blocks be our enemies. Let all communications mass media of the world continue to write and spread lies against this Movement, but the truth shall remain clear and evident throughout…”

Day of Ashura | The day heavenly angels wept for Hussain

The story of Imam Hussain (PBUH) on the day of Ashura in Karbala has a heat that still burn our hearts over centuries. Day of Ashura was a day in which even the heavenly angles wept for Hussain (PBUH), the prophet Muhammad’s grandson.

Ashura

Imam Mahdi, the 12th Shia Imam and the grandson of Imam Hussain (PBUH) has said in “Ziarat Nahiya” that not only the heavenly angles but the skies, the mountains, the oceans and even the fishes wept for Imam Hussain:

“…Mourning commemorations were held for you [O’ Hussain!] in the utmost exalted place Heaven,

and the dark-eyed Maidens [of Paradise] hit their own heads and faces in grief,

The skies and their inhabitants wept,

as did Paradise and its keepers,

The mountains and their surroundings,

The oceans and their fishes,

The heavens and their servants

The Ka’ba, and the Station (of Abraham),

The sacred Monument,

and Mecca and its sanctuary …” (Read the full Ziarat Nahiya at here).

I do not know how these can be happen but I know that there is a verse in the holy Quran saying all the creatures exalt God but you can not understand:

“The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [ Allah ] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.” [The holy Quran, 17:44]

Muharram , The Month of Imam Hussain

“The month of Muharram is  the month of Imam Hussain,…The month of attendance to the preservation of the religion, God’s religion, and resistance against those powers which confront the religion…”

Today is the first day of Muharram in the year 2019 and I’m writing this post from the holy city of Mashhad, from a place near to Imam Reza’s holy shrine; So Let’s offer our deepest condolence to Imam Reza (PBUH) and to Imam of our time for the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (PBUH), the prophet Muhammad’s grandson.

Muharram 2019 at the holy shrine of Imam Reza

Holy shrine of Imam Reza in Muharram 2019. I took this photo tonight, on the 1st of Sep 2019.

It is my first trip to Mashhad in Muharram. The holy shrine is covered in black and the people are also dressed in black for the mortyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain (PBUH).There are also some traditional camps held in the streets by people who love Imam Hussain to offer free tea, drink or food to the mourners and other people in the streets.

Yesterday I found that Imam Khamenei, the grand leader, also travelled to Mashhad to clean the holy grave of Imam Reza (PBUH) to prepare it for the beginig of Muharram.

The following statment is one of the grand leader’s speech about Muharram given in about two years ago :

“The month of Muharram is the month of Imam Hussain; It is the month of Hussaini, The month of all values embodied inside the Master of Martyrs (PBUH); the month of Martyrdom , the month of Jihad, the month of sincerity, the month of loyalty and the month of forgiveness; the month of attendance to the preservation of the religion, God’s religion, and resistance against those powers which confront the religion. The auspicious existence of the Master of Martyrs and the events of Ashura, Muharram and other such events are the embodiment of these values.

The belief that the uprising of the Master of Martyrs has been preserved Islam is really a correct belief as this event has been become livelier, day by day, in the course of time and after many centuries.

Today, this ceremony is being held in a warmer and more enthusiastic and comprehensive manner than a hundred years ago when there were no appearant opponents for the religious believes of people like today’s opponents. All these matters has a meaning. All these matters reveal certain truths and a movement which is moving forward in the world with the leadership of Hussain ibn Ali (PBUH). In-Sha-Allah this movement will go forward and will resolve the problems of nations.”

Day of Ashura 2018 | photos of a mourning procession in Iran

Ashura | Who is Hussain?

Our deepest condolence to the man left from the descendant of Imam Hussain, to Imam of our time, Imam Mahdi (May Allah Hasten his reappearance).
I prepared the following image by a quote from Imam Hussain, the prophet Muhammad’s grandson who said it on the way toward Karbala.

The references for this quote are from Shia and Sunni collections of traditions respectively.

“Don’t you see that the truth is not followed and the falsehood is not discouraged?  So that a Believer wishes to meet Allah [to die] and to me, death is nothing but prosperity, and living with tyrants is nothing but disgust and disgrace.”

Ashura | There is no day like yours + Wallpaper

There is no doubt that the greatest and the most painful massacre in history was the martyrdom of Hussain (PBUH) and his 72 companions on the day of Ashura.

Imam Hussain (PBUH) was the prophet Muhammad’s grandson who was surrounded by an army of 30,000 people in Karbala, with no water for three days! They fought deliberately in the battlefield but they were all killed and beheaded one by one in front of their families on one day which is called Ashura.

Following the martyrdom of Hussain (PBUH) and his companions, their bodies were trampled by the hoofs of the horses, their tents were burnt in fire and their women and children including Lady Zeinab (PBUH), the prophet Muhammad’s granddaughter, were all captured and moved along with their heads toward the Levant.

Day of Ashura was a day Imam Hassan Al-Mujtaba (PBUH) said about it to Imam Hussain (PBUH) before his martyrdom:

“لا یوم کیومک یا اباعبدالله”

There is no day like yours, O’ Aba Abdillah! [Hussain][1]

Ashura | Quote about Imam Hussain by Prophet Muhammad (6)

Recently , I searched again for the quotes about Imam Hussain, the prophet Muhammad’s grandson, in Sunni collections of quotes and I found some other traditions about him by the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) at here.

The following image is a quote I found it about the holy prophet Muhammad’s view toward those who fight with Imam Ali, Lady Fatima, Imam Hassan and Imam Hussain (PBUH).

I continued my search through the references mentioned below the quote for confirmation and I found it correct.

Ashura 2018 | Photos of International Day of Ali Asghar

The smallest martyr of Karbala was Imam Hussain’s six-month-old son, Hazrat Ali Asghar (PBUH), who was killed with a three-branched arrow on the day of Ashura while he was on the hands of Imam Hussain (PBUH).

Therefore, each year an special great ceremony is held all over the wold on The International day of Ali Asghar (or global day of Ali Asghar) to mark the martyrdom anniversary of  Hazrat Ali Asghar (PBUH).

These special ceremonies are conducted on the first Friday of Muharram in all the cities of Iran or on the first Sunday in other countries and a huge number of mothers with their babies join in although the famous broadcasting web sites such as BBC, huffingtonpost, independent and so on totally ignore theses great annually ceremonies!

Mothers usually dress their babies by green color to memorize Hazrat Ali Asghar (PBUH).  The name of Hazrat Ali Asghar (PBUH) is also written on the black headband.

Why we never see these photos on the western media but we always see lots of the bloody photos of self-flagellation under the keyword of Ashura ?

Why they try to attribute these bloody self-flagellation performed by some minority of people to Shia Muslim people while self-flagellation is forbidden in Islam?

Ashura | Why do we cry for Imam Hussain in Imam Khomeini’s view?

Imam Hussain was the prophet Muhammad’s grandson who refused to pay allegiance to the tyrant of his time thus he along with his few followers were all brutally killed on the day of Ashura at the battlefield of Karbala about 14 centuries ago but every year, Muslim people around the world participate in the mourning ceremonies and processions to commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussain.

Ashura

Ashura

Why they have been weeping for Imam Hussain for centuries?! Why the holy prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and other Shia Imams were crying for Imam Hussain and why they have also recommend us to cry for him (PBUH)?

Imam Khomeini , the founder of Islamic republic of Iran has stated the reason of weeping for Imam Hussain (PBUH) in his speech. The following image includes a part of Imam Khomeini’s speech in the year 1969 (several years before the victory of Islamic revolution).

Ashura

Ashura

Imam Khomeini stated in his speech:

“…Now, a group has appeared demanding that: “Do not commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (PBUH) and other Infallible Shia Imams.” They do not know the outcome and consequences of this mourning and lamentation. They do not realize that it is the uprising of Imam Hussain (PBUH) against tyranny that has been conserved up to this time and has set off this movement [Islamic revolution]. This movement is a ray, a reflection of Imam Hussain’s uprising. They do not know that weeping for Imam Hussain (PBUH) means perpetuation of his uprising and maintaining the fact that even a small number could stand up against a great empire. This is the Imam Hussain’s instruction. This is an instruction for all people that: “Every day is an Ashura and each territory is Karbala!” This instruction implies that Imam Hussain’s movement must be kept alive and active everywhere and at all times.

Imam Hussain (PBUH) with his few men scarified himself for Islam. He stood up and said: “No!” to   a great empire ; and his “No” must be conserved daily and at everywhere; and these mourning sessions are also held for the perpetuation of the same “No”.

Our children and youth should not consider this matter as a matter of “weeping nation”. The “weeping nation” has been induced by others to you. They (the enemies of Islam) afraid of such weeping because it is a cry in support of the oppressed. It is an outcry in opposition to the tyrants. These organized processions and rituals are against the cruelty and injustice, They have rose up. You must keep these rituals alive. These are the religious signs which must be kept alive, These are the political signs which must be conserved…”

Quote for Muharram by Imam Reza (2)

Tonight is the first night of Muharram in 2018.

People around the world have been prepared for the mourning ceremonies since several days ago and now all over the cities are covered in black. The smell of Muharram has been propagated through the air and our hearts are started to be burned again for Imam Hussain’s martyrdom.

Tonight is the first night of mourning for the martyrdom of the prophet Muhammad’s grandson , Imam Hussain, in  Shia believes as Imam Reza (PBUH) has stated:

Ashura

“No one could have seen my father’s smile when the month of Muharram came. Sadness was increasing in his face day by day till the tenth of Muharram [day of Ashura] and when the tenth day of Muharram would dawn, it would be a day of grief and weeping for him.” – Imam Reza (PBUH)

Imam Hussain’s prayer to God on the day of Arafah

Day of “Arafah” is the 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, the twelfth month in the Islamic calendar and the month before Muharram.

It was narrated that on the day of “Arafah”, Imam Hussain (PBUH) along with a group of his family members and some of his followers came out the tent at the desert of “Arafat”, a place located near the city of Mecca. Imam Hussain then stood towards the Ka’bah and raised up his hands and pray to God while his face were flowed with tears.

Imam Hussain’s prayer which is called Arafah prayer (Dua Arafa) contains with the highest theological and spiritual teachings. Shia Muslim people recite this Dua on the same day each year during Haj pilgrimage or even far from Mecca at their local mosques or the holy shrines.

Arafah 2018 is on this coming Tuesday, on the 21th of Aug. So, I prepared the following image with a part of Imam Hussain’s prayer to God on the day of Arafah:

“…O’ my Lord!…and [O’] the revealer of the Torah and the Bible and the Psalms and the Furqan, and the revealer of  kaf-ha-ya-`ayn-sad and Ta-ha and Ya-Sin and the Quran, full of wisdom! You are my haven when the wide courses fail to carry me and when the earth, despite its width, becomes too narrow to bear me…”
