Ashura 2016 is coming

Ashura 2016 is on Wednesday, the 12th of October.

Day of Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram, is the martyrdom anniversary of the prophet Muhammad’s grandson, Imam Hussain (PBUH). On the day of Ashura, Shiite people as well as other lovers of Imam Hussain such as Sunni and Christian people dressed in black, participate in the mourning ceremonies and processions which are held in mosques, the holy shrines and the streets.They do not fast on the day of Ashura. They are given free food and drink called Nazri food or Imam Hussain’s food distributed by other people in public places for the sake of God and for the love of Imam Hussain.
